Just two weeks ago, Curtis Jones was speaking to the media about the team's efforts and when confronted with the question comparing Mohamed Salah and Eden Hazard, he made a bold and diplomatic call which has split fans in their ongoing discourse between the two players.
However, the weeks following his interview have seen the Englishman attempt to make amends for his claim and after helping Liverpool win a tricky contest against Bournemouth, it seems all has been forgiven between the pair.
Jones' redemption arc following Salah snub
The incident in question happened in an interview with TNT Sports where Jones claimed that he prefers watching former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard over his teammate - a debate that fans have had for many months now as a way to spice up the lull in football during the mid-season international breaks.
Of course, this sparked a mass debate about whether Jones was right or not, although it was clear that the Scouse midfielder merely gave his opinion on the two players, rather than attempting to make a factual claim.
When the pair's playing careers are compared using statistics, there is no contest. Salah has delivered more goals and assists in the Premier League and at a faster rate than his former teammate.
And Jones alluded to this when he made the remark. He said: "As a footballer, is he [Hazard] better than Mo? In my opinion, yes. But who would you rather have in your team? They're going to say Mo because he gets you your goals and assists."
The following day, Liverpool played against Lille at Anfield in the Champions League, and Jones was on hand to assist Salah in breaking the deadlock.
After the 2-1 win was secured, he took to social media and leaned into his comments, clarifying his stance that Salah can be incredibly prolific in front of goal.

Jones was an unused substitute against Ipswich Town the following week, where Salah netted a goal, but when the pair reunited at the weekend, they came together to deliver yet another goal between them - Jones assisting Salah again.
So, despite his comments being obviously a joke and genuinely harmless, it seems as though the Englishman is working his hardest to make amends for any offence caused to the Egyptian.
Salah's quality has been on full display this season, delivering 21 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League alone, so he will have likely taken Jones' remarks in good spirit, but if the midfielder wishes to prolong his redemption arc to last the remainder of the season, then the Reds will have an even greater chance of making this campaign a historic one.
