Liverpool have got to give Cutis Jones a major contract boost or things are going to get very messy.

Liverpool are going through contract hell right now. That's best seen with Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold - all of whom are free to leave at the end of the season as things stand.

Alexander-Arnold certainly looks like departing. The jury remains out on the other two.

But that's not even the end of it. Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher and Andy Robertson all enter the final years of their respective contracts this summer.

Now, Liverpool have already covered the potential loss of Kelleher by signing Giorgi Mamardashvili in 2024. They're expected to do something similar for Robertson later this year. Konate, though, has interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool may be tempted into selling if he doesn't agree a new deal.

The thing is, though - it might all get worse from here. And Curtis Jones sits at the centre of it.

Liverpool simply must get him tied down ASAP.

Curtis Jones's contract

Jones has pushed on over the last three years to become a regular for Liverpool. He's firmly established with a first-team place and shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Shouldn't be.

Jones's contract actually expires in 2027, with the Scouser having signed a new deal back in 2022. That deal reflected his status at the time - per Capology, he's on around £15k each week.

Now, that is not the wage of someone featuring regularly at the top of the Premier League. Jones's next contract will be for a lot more than that.

Triple that wage and you get something just shy of Wataru Endo's current salary. In truth, Jones will probably want considerably more than that.

And he'll know that Liverpool are under some pressure in this one. Alexander-Arnold is set to leave Liverpool and Kelleher likely will, too.

There are question marks over Joe Gomez's future, while Newcastle United want to sign Jarell Quansah. That's a group of four homegrown players who could walk out the door this summer.

Jones, then, carries extra importance for Liverpool as they battle against homegrown regulations. The Reds simply must pay the man and significantly more than he's currently on.

He's earned it and they need him - it's a no-brainer.
