Cody Gakpo has revealed what Arne Slot said to expect at Liverpool this season. Things will change for him.

Arne Slot promised that Cody Gakpo would have things a little different at Liverpool now that Jurgen Klopp was gone. And it appears he's already made that clear to the player.

Slot was asked by Viaplay whether he'd use Gakpo as Klopp did. The new head coach made it very clear that he wouldn't.

While Klopp saw Gakpo as a versatile player who could cover multiple positions - something he loved in several players - Slot sees him as a left-winger. That's the position he's going to play.

Mostly, anyway.

Gakpo himself says Slot told him that he'd be a left-winger but there is some flexibility there. The Dutch forward may still need to slot into other spaces.

"I spoke to him and obviously he sees me as a left winger," Gakpo told LFCTV. "That's how I think he sees me.

"We have a lot of players in the front line and you know the season is long and there can be some injuries in every position. So he said, 'You're playing there but maybe I need you in another position, you can play there as well. Just be ready'.

"For me, I'm here and I try to play the best football I can and help the club as much as I can with my qualities."

Gakpo can't really be too rigidly seen as a left-winger, purely because Luis Diaz exists. At least one will need to move about a bit if Slot ever wants them on the pitch at the same time, and his compatriot is the more versatile of the two.

And then on top of that, Diogo Jota will surely spend some time on the left if he's ever going to share the pitch with Darwin Nunez.

But what is clear is that Slot primarily wants Gakpo on the left. That was a point of debate among Liverpool fans, with Klopp seemingly preferring the player centrally.

It's one of many changes that are on the way for just about every player. Roll on Saturday
