Liverpool FC News: Former wonderkid SLAMMED for poor attitude by club chief
Former Liverpool forward Mateusz Musialowski has been slammed by a sporting director in Poland for his attitude after negotiations over a transfer broke down.
Musialowski joined the Liverpool academy in 2020 and was quickly marked as a wonderkid to watch out for in the future. Labelled the 'Polish Messi', expectations were high for the diminutive attacker.
However, the Poland youth international made just a single appearance for the Reds' senior side before being released at the end of last season.
Musialowski has now signed a contract with Cypriot outfit Omonoia FC but a failed return to Poland has sparked some angry comments from one club chief.
Sporting director bashes Mateusz Musialowski
Despite having now secured a move to Cyprus, things could have been significantly different for Musialowski.
According to the sporting director of Polish first division champions Jagiellonia Bialystok, Lukasz Maslowski, a return to Poland was on the cards for the Liverpool man.
Speaking with Meczyki, Maslowski claimed: "We wanted Musialowski, but in the winter. We didn't raise this issue in this transfer window because we knew the player's attitude.
"At some point I had the feeling that we cared more than Musialowski. Now we are in a different place and I think Mateusz should appreciate more the fact that the Polish champion had an idea for him."
Maslowski also admitted that Musialowski was holding out for a move to another one of Europe's elite leagues - somewhat ironic given he has ended up playing in Cyprus.
The 20-year-old could have been plying his trade in the Champions League in 2024/25 with Jagiellonia Bialystok currently still in the hunt to qualify for Europe's premier competition during preliminary rounds.
However, despite not making the move back to his home country, Musialowski will at least be handed the opportunity to get more regular game time next season.
Omonoia finished third in the Cypriot top flight last term and could still qualify for the Europa Conference League for the upcoming campaign.
