Mohamed Salah is in arguably the best form of his career, with 17 goals and 13 assists in his first 18 league matches this season, and other players like Luis Diaz have seen a resurgence under Slot.

Another player who is enjoying his best spell in a Liverpool shirt is Alexis Mac Allister, who has taken his game to another level under the Reds’ new regime.

How Slot has unlocked Mac Allister

The Argentinian has certified his status as a mainstay in the Liverpool side in recent months, and changes made by Slot could be behind the 26-year-old’s impressive first half of the campaign.

The Athletic’s Gregg Evans has detailed how changes made behind the scenes since Slot’s arrival have unlocked the World Cup winner.

According to Evans, new morning routines have been introduced in training with greater emphasis on rest and recovery.

Upon his arrival Slot also introduced short and medium-term plans for individual players with the intention of avoiding burnout, which has been influential on some of the Reds’ recent seasons.

Slot and his coaching staff were aware that Mac Allister was a player who needed to be managed carefully, and their adjustments seem to be paying off.

How have Slot’s changes worked?

Mac Allister has featured in all but one of the Reds’ Premier League clashes this season, only missing a 2-2 draw with Fulham due to a one game suspension for collecting too many yellow cards.

Despite featuring so heavily, Mac Allister has hit his best form over the last month, with a goal and two assists in his last three league games.

Some other players in the league will be starting to feel jaded at this point in the campaign but Mac Allister is still at his best.

The midfielder had often struggled when returning from international duty due to the large distances he is required to travel to represent Argentina, but Slot has managed to mitigate this issue.

As Evans pointed out, Mac Allister has started on the bench in two of Liverpool’s three games following international breaks, with his only start being the Reds’ 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Slot seems to have discovered the key to keeping Mac Allister fit and fresh and supporters will be hoping that the Argentine can continue his fine form for the rest of the season.
