Ex-coach gives away Arne Slot's big secret
Liverpool’s success can be put down to a number of factors this season, but their availability cannot be ignored.

Although many rival fans may claim luck is on the side of Liverpool, there are many tangible factors that are also in play.
The Reds are yet to face a serious injury crisis under their new boss and, whilst some of that may be luck, Slot and his backroom team have made an impact.
Ruben Peeters, Liverpool’s lead physical performance coach, must be given credit – and the Reds incredible availability has no doubt helped their on-pitch performance.
How does training affect injury susceptibility?
In a new report from The Athletic, Jordan Milsom – a former rehabilitation coach at Liverpool – has given insight into what can lead to player injuries.
“There are exercises that will help you tolerate load better. For instance, there is good evidence that performing isometric work pre-game can reduce eccentric damage associated with match play,” Milsom said.

“There is also lots of evidence to suggest increasing players’ strength, stability and control reduces the incidence of injury. But ultimately, what you do on the pitch (training and games) is the factor that impacts injury most.”
Milsom, who now works at Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq, followed Steven Gerrard from Liverpool to Rangers, before following the legendary Red to Aston Villa and eventually Saudi Arabia.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool training
As well as seeing an increase in availability, and the avoidance of any genuine injury crisis – which plagued Liverpool at a similar stage last season – Slot’s training methods with the team have allowed the playing squad to adapt to his style of play in excellent time.
Although the Dutchman has been in charge of the squad for less than a year, his style is already clear to see in the way that the team play.
Slot’s system is in full force and could well deliver the Reds a historic treble in his first season in England.
With the Reds already being so successful, it is a wonder to think just how much the Dutchman can achieve at Liverpool with more time and a few more additions in the transfer window.
Supporters will hope that Liverpool’s excellent availability is no fluke, and that the Reds can continue to challenge on all fronts for years to come.
