Arne Slot wants a ‘REALITY’ check at Liverpool after 3 wins in 3

Arne Slot has greatly emphasised his side's responsibility to find areas of improvement ahead of Nottingham Forest's trip to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Slot has enjoyed a perfect start to his Liverpool tenure, overseeing his side win all three of their opening games without conceding a goal.

Victories against Ipswich Town, Brentford and rivals Manchester United see the Reds sit alongside Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League table on maximum points.

Slot's men could become only the fifth side in English top-flight history to win their four opening fixtures without conceding a goal.

But despite the records broken, the excitement that's been built and the football that's been conveyed, the Liverpool boss has reiterated the fact that improvement has to be made with fixtures about to hit Liverpool thick and fast.

Shining a huge spotlight on what needs to be better and that the Dutchman isn't yet satisfied with his side should be taken as a positive and not dampen any excitement and optimism as Slot continues to identify where he can coach his side to that next level.

"Our early objective was to take as many points as we could from our first three games and we managed to do that.

"At the same time, though, neither myself nor anyone else associated with the first team believes we have done so well that there is no room for improvement. In reality, the opposite is true.

"This is not to dampen excitement or to play down expectations – we want our fans to believe in what we are doing and to have hopes based on what they are seeing from the team.

"But at the same time, we have a collective responsibility to find areas for improvement wherever they may be and this will always be our approach whether results are good, bad or indifferent," Slot outlined in his programme notes.

A busy schedule beckons

With the arrival of the newly formatted Champions League beckoning, Slot will see a different side to his men after having cruised to three wins in three weeks - games will now be every three or four days.

Following Saturday's encounter with Nottingham Forest, Slot's side will immediately turn their attention to a trip to the San Siro where they begin their European adventure by locking horns with Italian giants AC Milan.

Liverpool will be grateful to see a returning Curtis Jones from injury and the fact that Alexis Mac Allister's international break injury isn't anything to worry about.

However, this has been met by the frustrating news of Harvey Elliott fracturing his foot whilst away with England U21s.

It's been an encouraging start to life under Slot, and fans are well in their right to be optimistic, but the next two months could be very interesting in terms of identifying where specifically Liverpool are at under the Dutchman's reign.
