Arne Slot noticed his Liverpool players behaving the same way after their 2-1 Premier League win over Wolves at Anfield.

Liverpool beat Wolves on Sunday but it wasn't easy. The Reds raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half - and a thoroughly deserved one - only to see the visitors rally in the second half.

Luis Diaz scored the opener, essentially with his stomach, and then the Colombian won a penalty for Mo Salah to convert in what was a brilliant return to form. And when that second went in, it looked as though Liverpool would run away with it.

That very much didn't happen, however.

Wolves were fantastic in the second half, pinning Liverpool back with their pressing. They created several decent chances - the best of which had Alisson Becker darting out to stop a one-on-one.

Matheus Cunha found a breakthrough, though. He curled home a beautiful finish from the edge of the box to make a real game of it.

Fortunately, Wolves couldn't actually find an equaliser but they came incredibly close. Jarell Quansah was one of the standouts to stop them - his last-gasp tackle saved a goal and the points.

All in all, then, Liverpool were pretty fortunate. But there was a positive sign to take away from that, as well as the three points.

Arne Slot on his Liverpool stars

Arne Slot appeared impressed by his Liverpool players after beating Wolves because they weren't happy. He says the players actually seemed quite down when they returned to the dressing room.

"When the boys came in, I felt they were a bit down, maybe. Wasn't our best performance," he said in his post-match press conference. "That probably tells you how well we've played during the season that we weren't even that happy with this win.

"I said to them: 'Listen, this win is maybe even a bigger accomplishment than outplaying Tottenham here with the 4-0'."

It's unquestionably a positive sign that the standards are this high. Liverpool got three points but didn't get them with the level of control they wanted.

That's a standard that Liverpool had at their best under Jurgen Klopp and Slot has brought it back this season. If the Reds are to deliver the major trophies, they've simply got to have it.
