Arne Slot set to use Liverpool star MUCH more going forward

One Liverpool star is set to get a lot more game time as Arne Slot wants to keep him at the club. But will he pay that faith back?

Arne Slot has made a really good use of his squad at Liverpool this season. Though, of course, part of that is because of the injuries at the club.

Caoimhin Kelleher has certainly played a lot more than planned. Even Darwin Nunez has been featured on more occasions that Slot likely wanted, simply because Diogo Jota can't stay fit.

It's actually quite fortunate that the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Ryan Gravenberch have remained consistently fit to play. They've been the lynchpins of the team, allowing the rest to rotate around them.

But certain players have been the opposite - we've barely seen them. Perhaps the most notable is Federico Chiesa, who arrived from Juventus in August.

The Italian has been injured or out of fitness since arriving, meaning he's only featured on a few occasions. It's been hard to tell just how good he is - and how well he can do in English football.

He's not the only one, however. One star we know can thrive for Liverpool has barely played.

But that's all set to change.

Harvey Elliott set for more football

Football Insider reports that Harvey Elliott is set for a new contract with Liverpool. The Reds want him to commit his future to the club in light of speculation that he could leave.

After all, Elliott has started just twice this season - once in the EFL Cup and another in the FA Cup. Zero Premier League or UEFA Champions League starts, then.

But the report makes it clear that Slot is a big fan of Elliott and wants him to stay. In fact, he sees him 'as a key part of the side for years to come'.

That's certainly positive news - and a bit of a surprise. It's seemed at times that Slot didn't quite fancy Elliott in his midfield but this suggests quite the opposite.

Elliott is here to stay and to play a key part under Slot. The suggestion here is that he's going to feature a lot more over the second half of the season now he appears to be over the injury problem that halted the start to his campaign.

The 21-year-old can still be a key member of the team, certainly. Now it's time for him to show that.

We have little doubt he will and the faith from Slot is there, most importantly. Fans can gear up for a massive second half of the campaign for Elliott, then.
