Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker had social media talking after producing a brilliant moment for Brazil against Paraguay at Copa America 2024.

Alisson Becker has, somewhat bizarrely, come into criticism as a goalkeeper for Brazil. He's still their undisputed no.1 but there's a sense that he's just not good enough.

For his country, anyway. Liverpool fans will obviously find that kind of talk a little surreal - Alisson is arguably the best goalkeeper on the planet and one of the absolute best to ever play for the Reds.

And Alisson did find a way to show that on Friday night as Brazil took on Paraguay at Copa America 2024. The Selecao ran-out 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Vinicius Jr (2), Savio and Lucas Paqueta.

But the goalkeeper was also a talking point after the game thanks to a wonderful save. Paraguay's Damian Bobadilla had a shot from range that took a nasty deflection off Eder Militao just outside the box.

Alisson, however, adjusted remarkably to spring back the other way and keep it out.

Alisson produces spectacular save

That wasn't even Alisson's sole wonder-save. He also kept out a dipping effort from Brighton's Julio Enciso at 3-1, keeping Brazil in a comfortable position.

They were reminders for Brazil of what Alisson can do. He's capable of the truly spectacular moments that can swing a game. There's a reason Jurgen Klopp raved about him last season, labelling him 'absolutely exceptional' in an interview with Prime Video Sport.

And so it's a shame he's playing in a Brazil team that just isn't playing well. On form, it's one of the weakest Selecaos ever - just five wins in their last 14 fixtures.

Of course, things did turn around a bit on Friday. Their 4-1 win over Paraguay was a statement of sorts and suggests they do have it in them to compete for the trophy.

But they'll need consistency from front to back. Alisson can hopefully bring the latter and help his country return to the top of the game.
