Liverpool WONDERKID makes debut in 5-0 disasterclass
In recent years Liverpool have earned a reputation for developing academy players into first-team stars.

A number of the Reds current senior squad came from the Merseyside-based club’s academy, including Conor Bradley, Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In recent years there has been an increased focus on the recruitment of young talent from around the globe to play for Liverpool’s academy, and this is something that the club are doubling down on.
This model has produced some great prospects, including Harvey Elliott and more recent Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni, and now it looks like the model could be working once again.
Liverpool wonderkid makes his debut for the under-18s
On Saturday afternoon, the Reds’ u18 side took on Blackburn’s u18s in the U-18 Premier League.
Unfortunately for the young Reds, Blackburn emerged victorious and were able to score five without reply.

The one positive to come from such a dismal result was the debut of one of Liverpool’s brightest talents, Harvey Owen.
The 16-year-old joined Liverpool’s academy from Wolves in 2023 in a deal reportedly worth up to £800,000 at the age of 14.
The defender came off the bench when the Reds were already 3-0 down and down to 10 men and, although the scoreline is far from ideal, Owen has a lot to be proud of.
Owen is just one of a number of exciting talents that Liverpool have acquired in recent years to play for the academy.
Alvin Ayman was also signed from Wolves, whilst Ben Doak arrived from Celtic, Stefan Bajcetic was signed from Celta Vigo and Amara Nallo also switched West Ham for Merseyside.
At just 16 Owen still has plenty of developing to do, but making his debut for the u18s is a big step, and he is definitely a player to keep an eye on for the future.

Liverpool’s continued focus on youth development will no doubt please supporters, and many will be excited to see just how far the current crop of youngsters can go under Arne Slot.

Liverpool next game and how to watch live
Liverpool’s game against Wolves will kick-off at 14:00 GMT on Sunday 16th February.
The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports Main Event and Ultra HD.
