FSG make astonishing £470m offer to top target
FSG have sanctioned a gigantic offer for their top target. Liverpool’s Mo Salah remains without a new contract, however.
There’s plenty to talk about at Liverpool right now, what with the team sitting pretty at the top of both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. And yet, Mo Salah’s contract might be the biggest talking point of the lot.

The Egyptian’s current deal expires in the summer and he openly wants a new one. He’s pushing for it in the media, making sure the world knows that Liverpool are yet to put terms on the table for him.
So why haven’t they done that?
There are concerns over his age, essentially. Salah will be 33 when any new contract kicks in - an age that typically means he’s in decline. Liverpool are hesitant to offer a substantial amount of money to someone who may not justify it for long.
Now, you can go back and forth on that one. Fans certainly believe Salah is worth risking the money on - and we’re inclined to agree.
But what’s particularly notable is that this line of thinking is not how FSG operate at their other teams.
FSG make mega offer
FSG are currently overhauling the Boston Red Sox. They’re spending money - enormous amount of it.
Or at least, they’re trying to. With free agency underway, they’re trying to pick up some of the best available stars in the game.
One of those is Juan Soto, who is expected to command an incredible price wherever he moves this winter. The Red Sox are, per the Boston Globe, ‘still in the mix’.
And ‘in the mix’ means willing to offer up a contract between $600m and $700m. It’s one that will take Soto into his 40s, too.
In other words, FSG are perfectly happy offering gigantic sums to a player beyond his best years with the Reds Sox. Taking the same chance on Mo Salah? Well, that seems to be a step too far for them.
It’s worth mentioning the other offer they’ve made, too. They’re signing a 36-year-old, someone well past their prime, as the Egyptian waits.
The longer this goes on, the worse this entire situation looks. Liverpool have simply got to re-sign Salah.
