FSG’s landmark purchase is OFF after Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool’s rivals swoop in
FSG's move to create a multi-club system in the world of football has seemingly hit another snag.
When Michael Edwards returned to work at Liverpool last year the communication made it clear that he would work under FSG in a wider capacity.

Edwards confirmed that one of the biggest motives for his return was FSG's desire to build a multi-club system. At the time, Liverpool supporters expected a quick expansion.
There was a consensus that with Edwards having made his return a move for a new club would be imminent.
Yet, over a year later, FSG still haven't really progressed on that front.
They tentatively explored a move for Bordeaux in the summer as the French club were threatened by a dire financial situation which ultimately saw them demoted to the amateur leagues of France.
Anfield Watch understands FSG opted not to pursue that move due to Bordeaux's complicated lease agreement with the local council for their stadium.

More recently, there have been talks of FSG exploring a move to buy Spanish side Málaga CF. But these reports were juxtaposed by similar suggestions that Paris Saint Germain's investment group were also interested in buying the Spanish club.
Nothing has materialised so far but Fabrizio Romano may have inadvertently confirmed that a prospective deal for FSG might be off the table.
The Italian took to Twitter to confirm that Malaga's brightest talent Antonio Cordero is off to sign for Newcastle United.
This is a major coup for the Magpies with Cordero regarded as a very exciting prospect.
It's also a move that if FSG were to takeover the club would never have happened.
If FSG were in serious negotiations to buy Malaga they would never have allowed one of the club's brightest talents to join a rival in the Premier League.
If talks were being held, FSG would have done their utmost to prevent this Cordero situation. The fact that they seemingly didn't and Cordero has joined Newcastle might as well confirm that FSG have abandoned their attempts to purchase the Spanish side.
Which inevitably then raises the question, what next?
Edwards was not the only man who has been recruited to oversee this multi-club project. Pedro Marques and Julian Ward were also appointed in multi-club facilitating roles last summer.
This is not a whim of FSG, it's a clear strategy but the reality they are now starting to understand is that buying a football club is not easy.
They need the right conditions and the right environment in order to make it work not just for Liverpool but the prospective club as well.

Behind the scenes they are undoubtedly working on finding the right team and in turn when that does happen it's quickly going to become a massive boost for Liverpool, as it will allow the club to send players out on loan and to buy the stars of the future.
