Liverpool have emerged as 'favourites' to recruit Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich and the Reds will do 'whatever it takes' to sign him this summer.

As many of his Bayern teammates have, Joshua Kimmich has endured a difficult season with Die Roten.

The Bundesliga champions are currently ten points off Bayer Leverkusen in the race to defend their crown, while Thomas Tuchel's men were also knocked out of the DFB Pokal by third tier side and surprise semi-finalists Saarbrucken,

Tuchel has agreed to leave the club at the end of the season as Bayern look to persuade Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso to take over, with Kimmich also having an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena.

The 29-year-old's contract expires in 2025 and Bayern are yet to tie him down to a new deal, offering hope to clubs across Europe interested in the classy playmaker.

According to Bild in Germany, Liverpool have emerged as the favourites to sign Kimmich this summer, with the Reds reportedly willing to do whatever it takes to bring the midfielder to Anfield

Manchester City have also been strongly linked with Kimmich ahead of the upcoming transfer window, although there is still a strong chance that he extends his current deal with Bayern - especially with Tuchel leaving.

While Kimmich remains an extremely talented player, as well as someone capable of playing at right-back and in various midfield roles, it seems unlikely that Liverpool would pursue a move for the Champions League winner.

Kimmich will be 30 by the end of next season and is likely to cost Liverpool a sizeable fee, even with only just over a year left on his current deal.

Liverpool signed four new midfielders last summer and now have a host of exciting options coming through the academy, with the Reds expected to prioritise signing wingers and centre-backs this summer.
