Liverpool fans warned: ‘Ruthless’ Arne Slot is coming

Liverpool fans have been told what to expect from Arne Slot going forward. The former Feyenoord boss is far from done.

Arne Slot is off to an amazing start at Liverpool. He's won all but one game - the infamous defeat to Nottingham Forest - as the Reds top both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

That latter feat is particularly notable. Liverpool are the first team ever to top it on points, given this is the first season that was even possible.

It's been virtually perfect, then. It's remarkable, really, given Slot wasn't given any first-team players in the summer outside of Federico Chiesa - and he's barely played.

The Dutchman has moved the squad up a gear, though, building on the positives of last season. That carries two messages, really.

First, that Slot knows what he's doing, even with a squad that isn't really his. And second, as Feyenoord fans are quick to point out, there's a lot more to come.

Arne Slot is just getting started

A curious Liverpool fan took to the Feyenoord subreddit to ask about Slot's start at Anfield. He wanted to know how similar things are to their Eredivisie champions.

The consensus? That Slot's Liverpool isn't even really 'Slot's Liverpool' just yet.

They all believe there's more to come, with the boss chasing a team that still misses key components. Those components should arrive soon.

"Personally I think he wants some more midfield control, like we (Feyenoord) had on a lower level," writes one fan, Waldier. "I am almost sure a ball-playing 6 like Zubamendi was the first player he asked for.

"Wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool are still in for him. Another alternative is Frenkie, who would also be perfect for this style.

"Knowing Slot, he is looking to replace at least 3 or 4 players already. He is good at playing the players he inherited, but his best quality is building a new team.

"He is ruthless and has no problems shipping away fan favourites. If Liverpool fans think they are playing great now, they should be totally excited for next season."

A second fan echoed those sentiments - that Slot is always chasing more control. He found it at Feyenoord, moving the club towards possession football rather than the 'kamikaze' style of his first campaign.

That's similar to what we're seeing now. The remnants of Jurgen Klopp's style remain but Slot will gradually phase them out with his own players.

In other words: there's more to come. Liverpool fans like it now - but they'll love what's happening down the line.
