With Liverpool missing out on both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, the footballing world knows that the Reds need a defensive midfielder and therefore, dozens of rumours are circulating - including links to a certain Ryan Gravenberch resurfacing.

In the early stages of the transfer window, Liverpool were routinely linked with three names - Manu Kone, Khephren Thuram, and Ryan Gravenberch.

The club's interest in the trio reportedly cooled while they explored other targets, but with the end of the transfer window looming and Liverpool's midfield rebuild yet to be completed, the seemingly forgotten or discarded targets' names are beginning to crop back up.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, via The Boot Room, Gravenberch is a name that is continually popping up in relation to Liverpool, with the Dutchman struggling for regular minutes in Bayern's midfield.

He said: "The one I think to keep an eye on, guys, I’ve said this all summer, I think Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich. I think they [Liverpool] might even do two, but I think Gravenberch could be one of them. He was waiting to see how the season goes with Bayern. I think he wants out."

It has been previously reported that Liverpool's bosses are "in love" with the midfield star, who could yet try to force a move from Germany this summer, and these reports are only adding fuel to the fire.

Bailey added: "I think [Gravenberch] knows there’s a role he can play at Liverpool, so I’d keep an eye on him, I’m still hearing his name quite a lot."

With two weeks until the end of the transfer window, Liverpool would need to act fast if they were to get a deal done for the young midfielder.
