Liverpool fans spot Reds reference in Arsenal Champions League celebrations

Liverpool may not be in the Champions League this year, but the Reds can still feel a little involved after being snuck into one post celebrating Arsenal's progression on Tuesday night.

The Gunners overcame Porto on penalties to reach the quarter finals of this year's competition — a feat the club hadn't achieved for 14 years.

Having lost the first leg in Portugal, a Leandro Trossard goal at the Emirates ensured the tie went all the way to spot kicks, with Mikel Arteta's side triumphing 4-2 to make the final eight.

With Arsenal last reaching this stage way back in 2010, the club had plenty to celebrate.

TNT Sports shared a graphic on X after the final result, highlighting the surprising statistic, with an edit of several Arsenal players celebrating.

However, eagle-eyed Liverpool fans also spotted something curiously familiar about the image.

The Champions League trophy included in the background behind Gabriel Martinelli actually came from a photo of none other than Jurgen Klopp lifting the cup for Liverpool in 2019.

Reds online had fun with the best picture edit since Princess Kate...

After generously loaning one of their European Cups to TNT's Arsenal graphic, the Reds are back in action on Thursday night as they take on Sparta Prague at Anfield in the second leg of the Europa League last 16 tie.

Already 5-1 up from the first leg in Prague, Liverpool should make the quarter final draw on Friday, as Jurgen Klopp and co chase an unprecedented quadruple in the manager's final season.
