Under the German boss, Liverpool have equally experienced elation and heartbreak at the hands of the Citizens, establishing a rivalry at the pinnacle of the English game that has gone on to define recent Premier League years.
With this Sunday's title six-pointer marking Klopp's final outing against Pep Guardiola's City before stepping away in the summer, it's only right that we look back at some of the best memories from the famous fixture.
Let's hope Liverpool can emulate some of these performances this afternoon.
Fans rank Klopp-era wins over Man City
Over 4,000 fans voted as we asked supporters on X to pick their favourite win over City of the Klopp era.
It wasn't so much of a close affair. Nearly 60% of fans picked Liverpool's emphatic 3-0 win in the 2018 Champions League quarter-final - a famous Anfield European night.
Demonstrating that the Reds could truly hang with a side who were, at that point, going largely uncontested for the Premier League title, Liverpool stunned Guardiola's men into silence as they continued on the road to Kiev.
Following behind in second place was Liverpool's 3-1 victory during their Premier League title-winning season of 2019/20.
Gaining just over 25% of the vote, it was a game that sent Anfield into raptures, with a sixth-minute belter from Fabinho setting the tone for what was to come both in the match and the rest of the campaign.
Simply an iconic outing in a season where the Reds were head and shoulders above the rest.
Third place takes us to Wembley, with just over 10% of fans voting Liverpool's 3-2 win in the 2022 FA Cup semi-final as their favourite City triumph.
A contest that was very much a game of two halves, the Reds put in an absolute blinder in the first 45, with an early Ibrahima Konate goal and a Sadio Mane brace giving Liverpool a 3-0 lead at the break.
City started the second half as they meant to continue, with Jack Grealish reducing the deficit to two goals.
But an assured defensive performance from Klopp's men meant that the chasing Citizens only managed to bag their second in the 90th minute, which at that point was too little too late.
Taking Klopp to a first FA Cup final, it granted him the chance to tick off yet another piece of silverware as Reds boss - something he would be successful in as Liverpool beat Chelsea in the final.
It's important to note that Liverpool's fondly-remembered outings over City doesn't just stop at these three - fans also made their case for a handful of honourable mentions.
Take the 4-3 in 2018 - an absolute joy for the neutral that saw the Reds kill Guardiola's hopes of an invincible Premier League season.
Some also argued for the second leg of that notorious Champions League quarter-final in the same season, which saw Liverpool reign supreme at the Etihad in a 2-1 victory.
One of the greatest rivalries in recent memory, it always seems to guarantee fireworks - let's hope for another cracker today.
