Meanwhile, on Sky Sports' broadcast, he was lambasted by Roy Keane for his defending with the Irishman claiming the full-back will end up at Tranmere Rovers rather than Real Madrid.
As talks continue to heat up over Alexander-Arnold's contract and his, what now looks like, inevitable departure to Spain, his image is starting to shatter among Liverpool supporters.
Brutal Trent Alexander-Arnold chant around Anfield
The Liverpool right-back didn't have his best performance in a red shirt. He failed to win a single duel as per Fotmob, losing all five of his attempts.
He was sloppy in possession as well and continued to lose the ball with Man United taking advantage of Liverpool's right side to attack those territories and reaping the rewards for the first goal when Alexander-Arnold poor pass led to United going down his lane and putting the ball into the penalty area for Lisandro Martinez.
In the end one Liverpool fan clearly had enough sitting in the stands. The Daily Mail journalist, Lewis Steele tweeted that he heard a fan shouting expletives at Alexander-Arnold telling him to leave the club.
Chants like this embody what Liverpool fans are feeling around Alexander-Arnold at the moment.
He was a boyhood fan of the club and a local icon - someone destined to stay at Anfield for years to come. Someone destined to follow in Steven Gerrard's footsteps.
But instead, Alexander-Arnold seems to be going on a different path - one that will shroud him in infamy. And his attitude on the pitch is a telling statement about where his head is at the moment.
There's still time to change those perceptions. But signing a new deal at the moment looks like a far away possibility.
