Liverpool FC News: Reds duo at risk of TWO-MATCH suspension in next three games

Two Liverpool players are at risk of facing suspensions during a critical part of the season, before the Premier League wipes the players' records clean again.

By Premier League rules, any player who earns ten bookings in the first 32 Premier League matches will serve a two-match ban in the same competition, while yellow cards are not carried over to the domestic cup competitions.

However, after the 32nd gameweek, the players' slates will be wiped clean for the final part of the run-in.

With three games to go before that amnesty, there are two Liverpool stars who will need to exercise caution in their conduct in the coming matches.

Liverpool's suspension risk

Both Wataru Endo and Darwin Nunez are on eight yellow cards for the season and are the most at risk of facing a very unwanted ban, with squad availability already such an issue for Jurgen Klopp this season.

The pair will need to avoid picking up two more yellows each in the games against Sheffield United (4/4), Manchester United (7/4) and Crystal Palace (14/4), before they can relax a bit.

A two-game suspension, depending on when it is acquired, could put either of the duo at risk of missing the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, scheduled for 24/4.

Both players have become key to Jurgen Klopp's side this season, with Endo rising to surprising prominence as the tireless anchor in midfield, while Nunez has established himself as the preferred central attacker when fit.

The Uruguayan has not picked up a booking in any of his last four league outings, perhaps showing some restraint as he looks to avoid a ban. However, Endo has earned three in his last six, with yellow cards more of an occupational hazard for a defensive midfielder.

While Liverpool fans will await the end of the 32nd gameweek nervously, there is good news on the horizon in terms of Liverpool's returning stars.

On Wednesday, Klopp revealed that as many as four players are closing in on returns to team training in Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Stefan Bajcetic.
