"Liverpool don't panic" - Jamie Carragher on Liverpool's transfer business

Former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher has explained why the Reds have not signed a midfielder this summer.

Liverpool have signed Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay this transfer window. However, none of the aforementioned players are midfielders.

Many Reds supporters believe that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp needs to strengthen his midfield. But, Carragher said that Liverpool won't just purchase anyone.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told Sky Sports the following: "I think most people would say Liverpool's midfield can be strengthened in terms of quality. Liverpool don't panic and they can't do that now. If the player they want is not available, don't get him. Don't panic.

"Look at how long they waited for (Virgil) van Dijk. It's proved very successful and I am sure they will do that with the midfield as well."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Carragher is spot on. Klopp has never bought a player just for the sake of it.

If the German does want to strengthen his midfield, he will have a name in his mind.

As Carragher said, waiting for the right player can make a huge difference.

Van Dijk has transformed into the best centre-back in world football since arriving at Anfield.

The Dutchman was named runner-up for the 2019 Ballon d'Or, which helps backs up the aforementioned argument.

Had Liverpool panicked and signed a different centre-back, then it would be fair to state that they would not be the team they are today.

So, we would rather see Klopp stay patient and bring in the right player, even if that means waiting until next summer.
