The Liverpool midfielder has confirmed on his social media that he has joined Red Bull.

Dominik Szoboszlai has struck a partnership agreement with the energy drink company Red Bull.

In the announcement video posted on his social media, Szoboszlai can be seen drinking a can of the famous energy drink before putting on a Red Bull car helmet and taking a Red Bull car for a spin on a racing track.

RB Leipzig attacker, Xavi Simons, also makes an appearance in the video and welcomes the Hungarian midfielder to the Red Bull family.

The Liverpool midfielder obviously has close affiliations with the brand having represented Red Bull Salzburg from a young age and having also played for RB Leipzig prior to arriving at Anfield.

He spent the vast majority of his footballing career and close to a decade at Red Bull football clubs.

That's why this is undoubtedly a major agreement for the Hungarian, whose popularity has grown tremendously in the last year or so.

What does Szoboszlai's Red Bull deal mean for Liverpool?

It's set to be Szoboszlai's second major lucrative sponsorship deal since joining the club. He is also the face of McDonalds in Hungary and even had his own meal launched back in the summer, called the 'Domi meal.'

Having become part of the Red Bull brand has little impact on his Liverpool future though.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has previously had a similar agreement with Red Bull, and it did not have an impact on his Liverpool future either.

Which athletes Red Bull sponsors as a brand is entirely separate from their other business entity, their football group.

Why the timing of Szoboszlai's announcement is interesting

Of course, with his former boss joining that Red Bull football group just yesterday, the timing of Szoboszlai's announcement is definitely interesting.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed he was joining Red Bull as head of global football operations. He doesn't start that post until January when he will be teaming up with another former Liverpool favourite, Pep Lijnders, who is the coach of Red Bull Salzburg.

It seems as though those Liverpool affiliations with Red Bull are never-ending.
