Diogo Jota and Rute Cardoso have announced the birth of their third child.

Jota announced the birth on an Instagram post with the pair of them holding the child’s hand captioned “26/11/24” with a double heart emoji.

Cardoso’s pregnancy was first brought to public attention back during the Euros in the summer, with Jota celebrating a (later disallowed) goal by putting a ball under his shirt, followed by Cardoso announcing it herself on Instagram.

Naturally, social media was overjoyed for the couple.

The birth of Jota’s third child comes hot on the heels of teammate Curtis Jones and his partner Saffie Khan announcing the birth of their first child in mid-October.

Jota himself is currently sidelined following the rib injury he suffered during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea at Anfield on 20th October.

Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adaraiboyo tangled with Jota and fell right onto his midriff, requiring an immediate substitution.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot previously said that Jota was expected back after November’s international break, but the Portuguese international is yet to be seen in a matchday squad since the injury.

The attacker had enjoyed a bright start to the season, being Slot’s preference as Liverpool’s central attacker.

Jota grabbed six goal involvements in all competitions before the injury. As such, Liverpool have had to rely on a mix of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz as their central options in his absence.

There is no concrete timeline for his return, with Arne Slot last saying he was “not there yet” before last week’s 2-0 win over Real Madrid.
