Liverpool have received a massive injury blow ahead of the FA Cup final against Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea side.

According to Paul Joyce of The Times, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Fabinho is set to miss Saturday's final against Chelsea after being forced off in the 30th minute against Aston Villa.

To add salt to the wound, Fab will also miss the remaining Premier League games against Southampton and Wolves.

As well as that, Joyce confirms that the Brazilian is in a race against time to be fit to face off against his old club, Real Madrid, in the Champions League final on May 28th.

However, the Liverpool journalist did say that if he trains for even a few days in the build-up, then that would give him a chance of being involved in Paris against Madrid.

Finally, the report stated that Liverpool are likely to use Jordan Henderson as their midfield anchor, in response to losing Fabinho, after the skipper impressed in that role against Villa in the midweek game.

Anfield Watch Verdict

This is a huge blow for Jurgen Klopp's side. Fabinho has been our best midfielder this season and he's been one of our most consistent players.

When asked if Fabinho was underrated and under-appreciated, the German responded by saying he's the best player in the world in his position, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

"Woah! Ask his teammates... Underrated? Is that what you said? After one day working with him, you want him in your team definitely. He doesn't need public praise. That's all fine, he's the best in his position. He's a top, top, top player,” Klopp said.

Hopefully the Brazilian is back in time to face Real Madrid as we need him in our midfield to help control the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

If he's not, then it would be an advantage for Madrid before the game has even kicked off.
