From the get go Jones ran all over the pitch and looked like the most lively player in a Liverpool shirt.

He run Chelsea rugged and made his moments count in the final third.

If it wasn't for a controversial VAR decision to overturn a penalty in the first-half, Jones could have made things even more comfortable for the Reds.

But he still made his moment count, helping to take the lead in the second-half with a great finish inside the penalty area.

Curtis Jones misses huge opportunity in goal celebration

Jones' performance was close to perfection. But the celebration left many wanting.

It was a highly anticipated moment. Earlier this week, Jones' partner Saffie Khan had given birth to his baby daughter.

Many expected Jones to recreate Bebeto's classic 1994 World Cup celebration with his Liverpool teammates.

Instead, Jones' celebration was a little bit more muted than that. After being embraced by his teammates, he imitated sucking on a dummy and then sent a love heart to the camera.

A lovely message to his newborn daughter, but it was still an opportunity missed to create an iconic moment.

Gary Neville blown away by Curtis Jones

But at the end of the day, all that matters is the performance. Jones was sublime on the night. Even earning plaudits from Gary Neville.

"Curtis Jones has been involved in everything," Neville said on Sky Sports' commentary.

"Liverpool's best player by an absolute mile.

"He's supposedly playing in the deeper role, but he's got forward whenever he can. It's a really cute finish."

You know you've played a blinder when a Manchester United legend sings you a lavish praise like that.
