Liverpool fans have got used to the sight of famous offspring in the club’s youth ranks.

Stars of yesteryear like Djibril Cisse, a Champions League winner for the Reds, and Premier League players from other teams have got sons making their way through the club’s youth and underage sectors.

Maynor Figueroa’s son Keyrol for example is a United States youth international and plays up front for Liverpool’s under-18s. Jayden Danns’ famous dad Neil was a Premier League campaigner in his day, as was Lewis Koumas’ father Jason. Bobby Clark, meanwhile, who left the club for Red Bull Salzburg over the summer is the son of former Newcastle star Lee Clark.

Cisse’s highly-rated young son Prince is a Reds’ under-18 prospect and recently signed a new deal with the club.

Liverpool cult hero Heskey

Another former Liverpool striker now has two sons making their way through the academy ranks but sadly for the Reds it’s in the colours of Manchester City and not on Merseyside.

Emile Heskey scored 60 goals in 223 games for the Anfield side between 2000 and 2004, winning the FA Cup, the League Cup and the UEFA Cup among other honours.

The 62-cap England international is fondly remembered by Liverpool fans for his selflessness up top, his tireless work and providing vital foil for club and international teammate Michael Owen.

Jaden and Reigan Heskey break through

His 18-year-old son Jaden has become renowned for using the famous Heskey DJ celebration in the City under-21s and younger brother Reigan now appears set to follow in his footsteps as an emerging talent.

Earlier this week Man City’s highly-rated under-21 side were in action in the EFL Trophy at Grimsby Town. City’s young stars are top of the Premier League 2 table, reeling off six victories in a row.

They were heavily favoured to down Grimsby, who play in League Two, but found it tough going to make a breakthrough.

Reigan Heskey WONDER GOAL

Jaden started in midfield but it wasn’t until Reigan was sprung from the bench that City made their breakthrough. The 16-year-old was rewarded for his fine form in the club’s under-18 side with a call-up to the under-21s and did not disappoint when he netted a wonder goal.

He had previously scored six and provided four assists in seven U18 games. Picking the ball up outside the box and driving towards the area in the 89th minute, Reigan unleashed a curling effort that left Grimsby’s goalkeeper with no chance. Grimsby however pegged City back moments later, meaning the contest would go to penalty kicks.

Reigan again slotted home from the spot and it was up to Jaden to seal the Cityzens’ progress by notching the decisive spot-kick.

Emile Heskey penalty record

Heskey senior only ever took ONE senior penalty for Liverpool. That was in the third round of the League Cup away at Blackburn Rovers in the 2003/04 season.

Heskey had already scored twice in a game that would finish 4-3 to the Reds, but was denied his hat-trick by a Brad Friedel penalty save in the 75th minute.

That game was played on October 29, 2003, 21 years to the day before his sons managed to convert from the spot on Tuesday night.
