Liverpool could WIN Khvicha Kvaratskhelia transfer battle with major deal
Liverpool fans weren’t too happy when the club missed out on the gargantuan singing of winger Khvicha Kvarateskhelia a few weeks ago.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were the ones to secure the Georgian superstar’s services in a rather surprising transfer, but they took the opportunity to kickstart their young rebuild as soon as they possibly could.

And they showcased what their side was still capable of when they came back from 2-0 down in the second half to beat Manchester City 4-2 in the Champions League in midweek.
The catalyst for this comeback victory was fellow left-winger Bradley Barcola, whose electric feet saw him leave Phil Foden in his dust to grab the assist for PSG’s first, before being first to react to Desire Doue’s off-the-bar effort to level things up.
But the signing of Kvaratskhelia has brought Barcola’s future into question.
Liverpool could win Kvaratskhelia saga by signing Barcola
And, according to L’Equipe, Barcola has been “surprised, to say the least” by his club’s recruitment of the Georgian.
This provides an opportunity that Liverpool could look to exploit. The Reds have been linked to Barcola multiple times over the past few seasons and it may be the right time for this interest to hot up again.
If Barcola is surprised by the signing, or better still dissatisfied, it could lead to some serious dissent in the ranks if (when?) his playing time is reduced for Kvaratskhelia.
He has occasionally played on the right-wing during his career and could be shifted back over there to accommodate the new signing - but, in doing so, Liverpool could offer him an even better option in being the long-term Mo Salah replacement.
Regardless of this, Luis Diaz’s contract situation - reportedly rejecting a new deal at Anfield - means that depth on the left-wing will be weighing heavily on Arne Slot’s mind. Barcola would be the perfect solution to that, being perfect for Slot’s system of directness and one-on-one prowess.
Despite PSG struggling in Europe this season, Barcola still has 18 goal involvements in 28 games in all competitions. It’s a very respectable return for a player who only has room to grow.
If Liverpool were to pull it off, it may be an even better deal than investing serious resources in Kvaratskhelia and still requiring to sign a striker and a Salah replacement.
As such, there would be no doubt who the real winners of the transfer are.
