Liverpool are now reportedly looking at Ajax youngster Devyne Rensch. The 20-year-old could fix their problems in one go.

CBS Sports report that Liverpool are one of a few teams looking at Ajax defender Devyne Rensch. The outlet actually mentions him as a possible signing for Arsenal, before naming the Reds and Manchester United as rivals for his signature.

Rensch is a 20-year-old defender currently playing at Ajax. He's come through their youth academy, as you'd expect, before becoming a regular for the senior side.

That always makes a player a target. Liverpool already have one Ajax graduate in their squad, in fact, with Ryan Gravenberch moving to Anfield in the summer.

Rensch may be one to watch this January - especially as he'd fix several problems in one go.

The big draw with Rensch is his ability to play multiple positions at such a young age. It's a trait you usually associate with veterans - players with the experience to carry over into several roles.

But Rensch is doing it at 20. Just this season, he's started games at right-back, centre-back and holding midfielder for Ajax. All three happen to be problem positions for Liverpool.

Holding midfield is the most obvious one. The Reds didn't secure their top targets in the summer and instead signed Wataru Endo from Stuttgart. There's always been a sense that he'd simply tide them over until January but the Japanese international has since established himself.

And so it may be that Liverpool would prefer a holding midfielder to cover for Endo, rather than replace him. Rensch could do that.

He could do it while also backing-up Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back. Liverpool need cover there as they want the Scouser to play games in midfield but his primary cover, Joe Gomez, is currently filling it at left-back, too. Again, Rensch could help out.

Liverpool also want an extra number at centre-back after Joel Matip was ruled out for the season. Well guess what? Rensch knows how to play that position, too.

The club may be looking at the answer to their January prayers, then. While there's no indication that they'll make an imminent move, Rensch is surely a player for Liverpool fans to watch.
