Cody Gakpo and partner Noa reveal new baby's adorable name in Instagram post
Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo and his partner Noa van der Bij welcomed a new addition to their family on April 25 when Noa gave birth to a baby boy.
The couple has now revealed the tot’s adorable name in a post on social media and together they have been inundated with messages of congratulations and support from the world of football and beyond.
In a shared post on Instagram, the couple announced the arrival of Samuël Seth Gakpo.
“On 25-04-24, we were blessed with the new love of our lives Samuël Seth Gakpo,” they wrote.
Liverpool star Ryan Gravenberch sent his message of love while outgoing goalkeeping coach John Achterberg was another who got in touch. The partner of Reds midfielder Curtis Jones, Saffie Khan, also sent her well wishes.
Fellow pros like Micky van de Ven, of Tottenham, and Gakpo’s Dutch international colleague Noa Lang also commented on the post.
Noa went into labour ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton, with it understood that Gakpo was scheduled to be in the starting lineup before later having to pull out of the squad.
The baby was born the following day.
Gakpo showing decent form as season ends
Gakpo, who has just turned 25, has been in decent form for Liverpool recently, netting a goal and providing an assist in the weekend Premier League match against Tottenham.
This season the forward has scored 15 goals in 51 games in all competitions.
The Netherlands international struggled at times earlier this season with Jurgen Klopp admitting he caused a ‘problem’ by playing Gakpo in a deeper midfield position amid an injury crisis.
The former PSV captain has also declared that he is ‘curious’ about playing for incoming head coach Arne Slot.
“To be honest, I have never worked with him,” Gakpo said of Slot’a imminent arrival.
"I know, of course, that he is a very good coach who has shown it at AZ Alkmaar and at Feyenoord too.
“Of course, we played against [his Feyenoord] a few times, they were often difficult games. I am very curious and I think we are all very much looking forward to it.
“The focus at the moment is not there yet and is now on finishing the last two games well, for ourselves, for the club, for the coach, and then we will look further at the new coach.”
Gakpo joined Liverpool back in 2022 from PSV for an initial fee of £37 million.
