Liverpool will make an offer of €25m (£21.5m) for Fluminense's Andre Trindade, with the player keen on a move to the Premier League.

22-year-old Andre has been identified as a transfer target by Liverpool as they seek a midfield 'controller' as part of the rebuild.

Despite initial reports that the Reds had turned to the Brazilian international after talks with Southampton over Romeo Lavia became drawn out, it appears as though Liverpool are actually looking at options to bring in two types of midfielders.

Now Gazeta Esportivo report that Liverpool will make a bid for Andre, with the offer expected to be €25m.

A recent report puts the Fluminense number seven's release clause at €40m (£34m), while the Brazilian club are willing to compromise on price – if the deal can be delayed until the January window.

Gazeta say Andre 'welcomes a transfer to the Premier League', while Liverpool are 'closer to a happy ending' then any of Andre's other suitors (previously reported as Sporting CP and Fulham).

However, they reiterate the club's reluctance to do business while the Brazilian season is ongoing.

ESPN have suggested that Fluminense could be open to a summer sale, if they fail to qualify for the last eight of the Copa Libertadores. The Rio club play Argentinos Juniors at home in the round of 16 second leg on 8 August, having drawn the home fixture 1-1.

Another factor in Liverpool's favour is the involvement of Jorge Mendes. UOL claim that Liverpool 'can count on the help' of  the super-agent in their pursuit of Andre.

Mendes has a strong working relationship with the Reds, having represented Darwin Nuñez, Diogo Jota and Fabinho.c

Meanwhile, Liverpool are expected to return with a third bid for Romeo Lavia, who is set to feature for Southampton in their Championship season opener on Friday night.
