World Cup winner Mac Allister hungry for more trophies with Liverpool
Alexis Mac Allister admits winning the World Cup has made him greedy for trophies and he is eyeing his first piece of silverware for Liverpool on Sunday in the Carabao Cup final.
The Reds take on Chelsea at Wembley, a repeat of the 2022 showpiece, with Mac Allister revealing that he moved to Anfield in order to win major honours.
The 25-year-old was a mainstay of the Argentina midfield when they won the 2022 World Cup and hopes that it will be the first of many, starting with the League Cup today.
“I definitely want more. That is how I am,” Mac Allister said in an interview with the official club website.
“The World Cup helped me to realise that I really want to win more trophies and so Sunday is a big opportunity. It is what I wanted when I signed for the club.
“It will be my first final with Liverpool so it is going to be something very special for me and the team.
“We haven’t been thinking a lot about the final because we have had a lot of games, and Luton [on Wednesday night] was a big one, but now we can think about it and prepare well.”
Mac Allister wants to stay many years
Mac Allister has been among the Premier League signings of the season since signing for the Reds from Brighton over the summer and he has said that he already has a special connection with the fans and the city since his initial £35 million transfer.
“It is crazy because since the first day here I really felt a connection that I have not felt at any other club,” he said. “At the other clubs it was about the time it took to settle. Here, from the first day the people helped me settle very well.
“I really feel a connection with the fans and the club and I really like it here. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Hopefully I will spend many years here.”
