“Liverpool cannot slip up again" - Chris Sutton ahead of Palace clash
Pundit Chris Sutton has warned Liverpool that they can't afford to drop points against Crystal Palace at Anfield tonight.
Reigning champions Manchester City have defeated West Ham United and Bournemouth to kickstart their 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
Liverpool on the other hand could only secure a 2-2 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage just over a week ago.
With that being the case, Sutton has made it clear that the Reds can't afford to drop points to Crystal Palace if they are to challenge for the Premier League title.
“Palace got off to a bad start losing at home to Arsenal, and things don’t get any easier for them here,” he told BBC Sport.
“Liverpool cannot slip up again in this one after dropping points against Fulham.
“The Reds have got a few injury problems, but the big thing for Jurgen Klopp is that he has to start new striker Darwin Nunez.
“Even some Liverpool fans would question Klopp if he leaves him on the bench, but I don’t see that happening.
“This is going to be routine for Liverpool and a difficult night for Palace.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We completely agree with Sutton. Because of how good Manchester City are, Liverpool need to secure the three points tonight.
If the Reds are at their best, they will win the game. The reality is, Liverpool are title contenders and Crystal Palace are a mid-table side.
But, the Reds will need to play a lot better than what they did against Fulham if they are to secure the three points tonight. Liverpool were well off the pace at Craven Cottage.
