Liverpool believed to be one of the clubs circling world-class German midfielder

Liverpool are believed to be one of several clubs interested in signing Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich.

The 28-year-old, who can also play at full-back, is increasingly being linked with a potential departure from the Bavarian club in the summer.

While his name was strongly linked with a move to Barcelona last summer, the Catalan club's delicate financial situation led to the signing eventually being ruled out.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Kimmich's future in Munich is very much in doubt. The midfielder currently doesn't have an agent but reports from the Germany suggest that he is considering recruiting one to help facilitate a future move.

Contract until 2025

Kimmich's current contract with Bayern runs until 2025. This means that this upcoming summer represents the last opportunity for the German champions to recoup a significant fee for him should he decide not to sign a new deal.

The mood around the player's camp has changed significantly since he signed his last deal in 2021 when the club was under the leadership of Oliver Khan and Hasan Salihamidzic - neither of whom are currently there anymore.

The club will be keen not to lose one of their key players, part of their captaincy group, on a free transfer having previously been stung by Toni Kroos's move to Real Madrid in 2014.

Interest from England

Unsurprising amid this backdrop, Kimmich is attracting interest from several European clubs. According to the AS report, the latest to join the race for the German's signature are Liverpool and Manchester United, with both clubs considering making offers this summer.

Previously, Kimmich had been linked with Manchester City, but the report suggests coach Pep Guardiola is unlikely to pursue him at any cost.
