Liverpool have secured the future of a promising attacker at the club by agreeing a momentous deal with him.

Richard Hughes hasn't been very active in the market since arriving at Anfield. Neither has he been able to tie down Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk nor Trent Alexander-Arnold to new deal - something that will have been a priority for him coming in.

But at the same time, there are promising and encouraging plans behind put in motion that will continue to strengthen the club's future.

Under Hughes, Liverpool brought in the likes of Rio Ngumoha and have handed new contracts to Jayden Danns, before he joined Sunderland on loan.

As well as another exciting young attacker in the club's latest announcement.

Joshua Sonni-Lambie signs momentous contract

One of the most promising young players in Liverpool's academy this season has been Joshua Sonni-Lambie.

The attacker who can play out-wide and as a striker as well joined the club at U14 level. Previously, he had been playing at grassroots level in London before being spotted by Liverpool's scouts.

A technically astute player with brilliant intelligent positional awareness, Sonni-Lambie is fantastic at bringing others into play and linking-up with his teammates.

For the club's U18 team this season he has eight goal contributions in 12 appearances in the U18 Premier League so far.

He only recently turned 17 years old back in November and now Liverpool have confirmed that he has signed his first professional deal for the club in a momentous agreement for the teenager.

From playing at grassroots level merely a few years ago to signing a professional deal at the club currently sitting top of the Premier League is the stuff of legends.

It's a testament to Sonni-Lambie's talent and work-ethic. Despite being an age group younger than his peers, he had already started to make his mark last season in the U18 team, making cameos and starting games for the young Reds.

At the time, he rubbed shoulders with the likes of Danns, who have since made the move up to the first team and senior football.

For now, Sonni-Lambie will be looking to get promoted to the U19 and U21 team first, but if he continues in the same trajectory and form, recognition from Arne Slot won't be long.
