Liverpool boost as Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold 'want to stay'
Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah want to STAY at Liverpool amid rumours about their respective futures.
That is according to CaughtOffside who have revealed the trio are looking likely to remain at Liverpool. They have all been linked with a move away from Anfield due to the fact they're all in the last year of their contracts.
With the Reds the only club yet to sign any players in the top five European leagues there was reportedly a focus from sporting director Richard Hughes on renewing contracts.
NO AGREEMENT REACHED YET
The report states that no agreements have been made with any of the three star players but they are willing to stay beyond their contracts.
This will be a big boost for new head coach Arne Slot who knows he can rely on the trio who were so important to the Jurgen Klopp era.
There were some concerns from fans as the rumours surrounding them weren’t going away. Captain Van Dijk was attracting interest from Saudi Arabia and he was even approached by PIF officials about a potential transfer.
Salah has consistently been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia as well but any potential for that this summer seemed to ebb away when Al Ittihad signed Moussa Diaby.
The biggest worry for Liverpool fans was the chance of boyhood fan Alexander-Arnold leaving. He hasn’t helped with those rumours as he was seen signing a Real Madrid shirt whilst on holiday with Jude Bellingham.
Those concerns won’t be eased until any sort of official contract announcement but Real Madrid will not be making an offer for him this summer. Carlo Ancelotti seemed to confirm that as he stated that they would not sign anyone else during this window.
The hope for Real Madrid is that they will be able to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free in 2025. That though doesn’t seem to be on the cards should this report be believed.
