Liverpool receive ANOTHER apology after referee claim

Liverpool always end up at the centre of refereeing controversies, somehow. In the past two seasons the Reds have been on the wrong end of some horrendous decisions.

Think back to VAR getting a decision so completely, embarrassingly wrong as they did last season with Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal against Tottenham.

Or the absolutely astounding video footage that emerged of David Coote calling Jurgen Klopp a "German c***”. Coote was on VAR duty for Liverpool's home game against Arsenal last season and failed to inform the referee of Martin Odegaard's handball in the penalty area.

While all fans think that referees have it in for them, Liverpool fans have more evidence than most to go off.

And now, the club have received an apology following another controversial incident during Wednesday’s draw with Newcastle.

The trip to Newcastle was one of Arne Slot’s toughest games of the season so far, with his side struggling to match their opponents’ intensity especially during the first half.

Players like Ryan Gravenberch and Darwin Nunez struggled to keep up with the tempo of the game, and Liverpool were lucky to go into half-time behind by just one goal.

The Reds were much improved in the second half, with another incredible Mohamed Salah performance almost clinching a brilliant win, before Caoimhin Kelleher’s mistake in stoppage time led to a Newcastle equaliser.

Liverpool receive apology from Amazon

Fans on both sides of the game were unhappy with referee Andy Madley at full-time, with some of his decisions coming under scrutiny.

The game was broadcast on Amazon Prime, and presenter Dan Walker implied that Slot had tried to influence the referee’s performance by speaking to him in his dressing room at half-time.

However, The Times are reporting that Amazon has now confirmed that this was a mistake by Walker, and have issued an apology to Liverpool.

According to the report, Slot did not enter Madley’s dressing room but instead spoke to him in the tunnel during the interval in what was described as a “normal way”.

Amazon have blamed the incident on a "production misunderstanding", and contacted the club and Slot to apologise.

Liverpool have accepted the apology from Amazon, and attention now turns to Saturday's Merseyside derby.
