Arne Slot has told TWO midfielders they can leave right now
With the January transfer window in full swing, most of the conversation around Liverpool’s transfer strategy is firmly in the outgoings category.
Be it loans, permanent sales or the three big expiring contracts, there is little to suggest that the Reds’ squad will be reinforced in any way at all come February 3.
Now it would appear that the squad is set to shrink even further with Arne Slot giving the go-ahead for two midfielders to explore futures elsewhere.

Tyler Morton and James McConnell probably don’t rank massively highly in the pecking order for Liverpool’s midfield, but both have been used in the domestic cups this season, Morton especially.
Both operate as holding midfielders, an area in which Liverpool only really seem to rely on Ryan Gravenberch and the sparingly used Wataru Endo.
According to a new report in the Athletic, both are viewed by Slot as not being required for the rest of the season and can seek moves this January.
This comes after Morton, 22, was credibly linked with moves away in the summer with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen even interested on tempting him away from Anfield.
It would now appear that he would relish the opportunity to move on. Interviewed after his performance in the FA Cup victory over Accrington Stanley, Morton said it was “decision time” in regard to his future.
McConnell’s situation is slightly different given he is the younger of the two, and there have been preliminary talks prior to this window which would see him leave Anfield on a loan deal.
Whilst nothing is confirmed, it is clear that both McConnell and Morton are surplus to requirements and the same interest that both players attracted this past summer is sure to rear its head once more this January.
