Liverpool key man to STAY after rejecting offer
Arne Slot has made an incredible start as Liverpool head coach. The Dutchman sees his side lead the way in the Premier League and the Champions League group phase.
He has helped the club move on effortlessly from Jurgen Klopp, who left at the end of last season following nine years in charge. There was a widespread change in Liverpool’s backroom team when Klopp departed with the likes of Pep Lijnders, Vitor Matos and John Achterberg among those names who also exited Anfield.

FSG and Slot set about assembling a new boot room with several key individuals following the coach from Feyenoord. Inbound were Sipke Hulshoff, Ruben Peeters and Roderick van der Ham and there were other appointees from elsewhere too.
John Heitinga will STAY at Liverpool
One such figure was John Heitinga, the former Netherlands and Everton defender. He was on the coaching staff of David Moyes at West Ham and had previously gained first-team coaching experience at Ajax.
The Amsterdam giants’ loss was ultimately Liverpool’s gain with Slot revealing that Heitinga had the credentials to be a No.1 with the Eredivisie side.
Slot is not the only one who recognises Heitinga’s talents though with West Brom reportedly keen to add the 41-year-old as a permanent replacement for Carlos Corberan. The Spaniard left for a high-profile role at crisis-hit Valencia with the Baggies’ decision-makers putting Heitinga at the top of their list.
His departure would have been a significant blow for Slot, with Heitinga said to be impressive on the training ground and popular with players.
Happily for Liverpool it’s now been reported in De Telegraaf that Heitinga will not leave Slot’s side and is committed to the Reds for the rest of this season.
"John will definitely stay at Liverpool this season," agent Rob Jansen told the Dutch paper. Furthermore, it’s also reported that the club will soon commence contract talks over a new deal for Heitinga.
That’s a big boost for Liverpool, whose Dutch revolution has shown plenty of promise in the early days.
