The 46-year-old Dutchman has however made an incredible start, winning 12 of his opening 14 matches including victories against Manchester United and Chelsea.

It’s been a record-breaking opening to Slot’s Anfield reign and Reds will be hoping that it continues.

Slot admits he's ALONE in Liverpool

Life atop one of Europe’s superclubs is demanding and Slot is having to adjust to his new surroundings without the presence of his wife and children.

Slot revealed that Mirjam, his partner, and children Isa and Joep have remained in the Netherlands while the new boss sets about planning a successful season for Liverpool alongside his staff.

In a recent interview conducted with former Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld, Slot disclosed that he sees his family infrequently these days and he has to make the most of their precious time together.

“You've been back to Holland?,” Westerveld asks in a video shared by Liverpool’s YouTube channel. “Yeah, to the family. For eight or nine days, I think, so it was really nice,” Slot replies.

“Oh, like a little holiday?” queries the former shot-stopper. “It felt like that,” Slot says. “But it's good to be home, and to see them play football, play tennis, all these normal things that you can do always, because you have all the time in the world!”

Slot on quality time with his family

Later Slot takes Westerveld through his life on Merseyside, where he spends ‘99 percent’ of his time on Liverpool-related matters.

“In the beginning, when I was here, I was like, "OK, my office is over there", and it takes you a while to get used to where you have to go,” he says as he offers the former Red a guided tour of the AXA Training Centre.

“Here everything was new, so it was new faces, new training ground, and you have to get a bit more used to that. And that takes you one or two weeks, and then you get to know all the people that work here because a lot of people are working here in this building.

Slot: Do I have a private life?

Aside from the odd game of padel, also beloved by Klopp, Slot admits he does very little aside from prepare his team.

“And then it's more about your private life," he says. "But you could argue, do I have a private life? That is, my family has stayed in Holland. That means that if I'm here, actually 99 per cent of my time is just working. Maybe after the all day... play a game of padel with my staff members. So, still Liverpool involved!

“Go home, eat, take the computer out, watch the training session back, prepare for the meeting in the weekend. So if there's a day off, it's always a bit like, "Hmm, I would have preferred to have a training session!

Nobody feel sorry for me!

Despite the hard work which goes into managing Liverpool on a daily basis, Slot does NOT expect much sympathy considering he is in charge of one of the world's most prestigious football institutions.

“The question is if you are better, becoming better like this, because you can also do too much," he says.

"But for now it works for me. We play many games, family comes over once in a while, we have our international breaks, and the good thing then is that your quality time with your children and with your wife, if you are together, increases.

“Nobody has to feel sorry for me. If you are the Liverpool manager, don't feel sorry for me at all. Private life is different, but still acceptable. And I can even say it's still good.”
