“Liverpool are the better team”: Jamie Carragher has say on Manchester United game
Speaking in preparation for Sunday’s game against Manchester United, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher admitted that he thinks the forthcoming game will be very tight. The former defender said: "Liverpool are a better team. They've proven that over the last few years and at the start of this season and if Liverpool play well, that could be enough to win. But even if they do win this game, it will be very tight."
The game pits two sides in contrasting form up against each other, with Liverpool unbeaten in 18 Premier League games, and Manchester United without a league win in three games. This is despite the Reds’ lack of spending in the summer, compared to United’s incredible spending spree, bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane.
If Liverpool sweep United aside at Old Trafford, it may well spell the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Many fans are expecting Liverpool to ease past Manchester United, but that’s rarely the case at Old Trafford, as Jamie Carragher knows all too well. It will likely be a tight game, and one in which Liverpool need to prove their quality to get three points.
If results go the Reds’ way this weekend, they could head in to matchday 10 at the top of the league, and unbeaten.
