Liverpool are reportedly preparing to make a final offer to Mohamed Salah

Liverpool are in the process of presenting Mohamed Salah with a final contract offer, according to Sunday World's Kevin Palmer, as cited by LFC Transfer Room's Twitter account.

Palmer has reported that the Reds winger, who is out of contract in June 2023, wants a big pay day (in excess of £300,000-a-week). Liverpool are reluctant to offer Salah more than the aforementioned fee.

However, there is a feeling that the Reds can put together a deal which includes 'guaranteed payments and substantial bonuses based on the team's success'.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Hopefully Salah and the club can reach an agreement. The reality is, the winger is a world-class player.

Salah has scored 153 goals and registered 57 assists in 241 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

Sadio Mane believes that his teammate is the best player in the world.

"I think he is the best right now. Every single week he shows it on the pitch," the Senegal international told Sky Sports, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

"Obviously Mo can't disagree with it, he is the best player. He makes us defend all the time, he is always scoring us and deciding games. We're just lucky to have him in our squad."

Also, Salah is only 29 years of age. His career is far from finished.

The aforementioned contract offer does sound reasonable. But, we ultimately can't speak for Salah.

The Egyptian international has been a bit off the pace lately. Salah has not scored in his previous three appearances for Liverpool.

Perhaps the contract talks are affecting him. It must be hard to focus purely on football with all the external noise.

Hopefully Salah and the club can meet in the middle. Only time will tell where his long-term future lies.
