Liverpool could make a move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in 2022, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional, as cited by Transfer News Live on Twitter.

The report states that the 33-year-old's future at the La Liga club is unclear due to the potential arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

With that being the case, the Reds are reportedly monitoring Benzema's situation at Real Madrid.

The Frenchman's current contract expires in June 2023. Benzema possesses a current market value of €25 million.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

There is no denying that Benzema would add quality to Liverpool's attack. The striker has scored 296 goals in 579 appearances for Real Madrid.

However, Benzema is 33 years of age.The Reds do possess an ageing forward line. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all aged between 28-30.

Therefore, we would rather see Liverpool go out and sign a young and promising striker. Benzema does not fit under the aforementioned description.
