Liverpool are looking to extend Jurgen Klopp's contract, according to Paul Joyce from The Times, as cited by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

The German's current deal expires in the summer of 2024. However, Klopp has indicated to the club that he would be open to extending his contract.

With that being the case, Mike Gordon, the president of Fenway Sports Group, flew from the United States to Anfield for last night's Champions League semi-final against Villarreal to speak to the 54-year-old.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Klopp arrived at Liverpool back in October 2015. Since then, the Reds have not looked back.

Liverpool have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title and League Cup under the guidance of Klopp.

The Reds are also in the mix for the Premier League title, Champions League and FA Cup this season.

So, we can understand why the club are looking to potentially extend Klopp's contract.

We would not be shocked if the German did sign a new deal with Liverpool. Back in January, Klopp did make it clear that he is loving his time on Merseyside.

As quoted by LFC Transfer Room, he told Sky Sports the following: "It is like a family. We want to stay like this. You are not always lucky. I am lucky. We are far away from finishing the book so we will keep writing and see where we end up.

"I'm happy. When I arrived in 2015, the picture looked completely different. It has been intense times since then.

"Each little thing you do is really worth it because of the size, and the emotion of this club."

Hopefully Klopp and the club can reach an agreement. But, only time will tell where his long-term future lies.
