Liverpool are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to Calciomercato, as cited by Total Football Center's Twitter account.

The report states that Liverpool and Manchester City are lining up moves for the 24-year-old. However, the report further adds that Juventus have already made contact with Zakaria's agent.

As things stand, the Switzerland international will be available on a free transfer next summer.

Zakaria's contract expires at the conclusion of the current season. It has been reported that the midfielder does not intend on signing a new deal with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Therefore, if the Bundesliga club don't want Zakaria to depart the club on a free transfer, they will be forced to sell him come January.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Zakaria would be a good signing for Liverpool. The midfielder is reasonably experienced. Zakaria has made 138 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach's first-team.

The 24-year-old has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.05 in the early stages of the Bundesliga season.

The aforementioned figures highlight that the 24-year-old would bring a fair bit to the Reds' midfield.

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool attempting to sign Zakaria either on the cheap in January or on a free transfer in the summer.
