Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Benfica's Darwin Nunez

Liverpool are interested in signing Benfica's Darwin Nunez, according to Paul Joyce from The Times, as cited by Anfield Watch on Twitter. 

However, the journalist further added that the Reds will not pursue the 22-year-old striker at any cost.

Nunez's contract expires in June 2025. He possesses a current market value of £50 million.

Nunez is coming off a terrific season. He scored 34 goals and registered four assists in 41 appearances for Benfica.

Nunez played against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals last season and performed well.

Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell had the following to say about the forward's efforts against Liverpool.

“I had a good look at him over the two legs Benfica played against Liverpool and I was impressed," he told Football Insider.

“He is lively and seems a very good player. He has size, pace and occupies centre-halves. Defenders would have their hands full if he comes to the Premier League."

The aforementioned figures and comments highlight that Nunez is a terrific young player, Therefore, we would love to see the club make a move for the forward in the near future.

Nunez is clearly beyond his years as a player. However, we are confident that he would only improve under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

The German has a track record of improving footballers, which Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has made clear in the past.
