Liverpool are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to Mundo Deportivo's Gabriel Sans, as cited by LFC Transfer Room's Twitter account.

The La Liga club are reportedly looking to sell the Brazil international. With that being the case, Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle United have made contact with Coutinho's representatives regarding a potential transfer.

The 29-year-old's contract expires in June 2023. Coutinho possesses a current market value of €20 million.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Coutinho represented Liverpool between 2013-18. The midfielder went on to score 54 goals and register 45 assists in 201 appearances for the club's first-team.

Liverpool then sold Coutinho to Barcelona for a transfer fee of €135 million back in January 2018. However, the Brazil international has not lived up to the aforementioned price tag.

Coutinho has only found the back of the net 25 times and registered 14 assists in 106 appearances for Barcelona's first XI.

Despite that being the case, we would not be against Liverpool attempting to re-sign the 29-year-old. Coutinho is a good footballer and his age does suggest that his career is far from finished.
