Liverpool are confident of agreeing a new contract with winger Mohamed Salah, according to Football Insider, as cited by The Anfield Buzz's Twitter account.

The report states that the arrival of Luis Diaz will not impact negotiations in regards to the 29-year-old's new deal.

Salah made it clear back in January that he would like to remain at Anfield providing that he is offered a contract which reflects his performances.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has also backed up that the Egyptian international wants to stay at Liverpool.

“We know, I know that Mo wants to stay, we want him to stay. That’s where we are. These things take time, I cannot change it. It’s all in a good place,” the German said at the start of the New Year, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“I am positive about it. The fans are not as nervous as you are. They know the club and know the people dealing with things here. We cannot say anything about it.

“Things take time, there are so many things in negotiations. It’s a third party too with the agent, it’s nothing to worry about; it’s a normal process. We always talk about it but there’s nothing to say.

“Of course we want to keep him. Now let’s see how it will work out. That’s all.

“His character, attitude and work rate is incredible. First in, last out, doing the right stuff. He knows his body, he listens to experts and tries to improve all the time, he worked so hard for this situation. He will not waste it by doing less.”

Salah's current deal expires in the summer of 2023.

The winger has scored 148 goals and registered 56 assists in 229 appearances for the club's first-team.

Salah has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.61 across the 2021-22 campaign, which highlights that he is showing no signs of slowing down.

Therefore, we do hope a deal is struck between the Egyptian international and the club reasonably soon.
