Liverpool could potentially make a move for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.

According to Samuel Luckhurst from the Manchester Evening News, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Reds have made it known that they are admirers of the 24-year-old.

However, the journalist did make it clear that if the Red Devils did agree to sell Rashford in the near future, it is unlikely that Liverpool would be able to purchase the forward. The rivalry between the Reds and Manchester United is massive.

The Englishman is contracted until the summer of 2023. Rashford possesses a current market value of €85 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Rashford is a reasonable player. The forward has scored 93 goals and registered 58 assists in 297 appearances for Manchester United's first-team.

Interim Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick believes that Rashford possesses all the qualities of a top forward.

“Marcus is one of the top strikers in England and has everything you need for a modern forward — pace, skills, size and physicality,” said the 63-year-old, as quoted by The Telegraph India.

“In the end it is all about confidence."

Therefore, Rashford would certainly add a bit of depth to Liverpool's forward line. But, as Luckhurst pointed out, Manchester United are unlikely to sell any player to Liverpool.

Both clubs hate each other. It is also important to note that the Reds don't necessarily need a player of Rashford's profile.

As we have said, the Englishman would add a bit of depth to the club's attack.

But, Liverpool already possess a number of forward options (Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota Luis Diaz and Takumi Minamino).

The club would be better off saving their money and spending it in a time of need.
