Liverpool are 'ready to offer' £20million for 59-goal French forward
Liverpool look set to make an offer for Borussia Mönchengladbach's in-form striker Marcus Thuram.
The January transfer window is set to be very busy for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side with early rumours saying that the Reds could be bringing in a couple of players.
One of those players has to be a starting midfielder and the other could be another forward option if recent murmurs are to be believed.
According to El Nacional, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, that forward looks set to be Borussia Mönchengladbach's Marcus Thuram.
The Spanish outlet are claiming that Liverpool are ready to offer £20million for the in-form French forward, however, they do not say whether the Reds will move for him this January or in the summer transfer window.
Anfield Watch Verdict
I will be the first to admit that Thuram would not have been my first-choice option, however, after looking a bit more into his underlying stats I think he would be a good addition to Klopp's squad.
The French forward is currently the second-highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga this season with 10 goals, only behind RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku.
He also seems like a very typical Liverpool signing. He's 25-years-old, can play multiple positions, mainly left-wing and up front, and would not cost an arm and a leg.
My only issue with this deal is the fact that I don't see Thuram being happy with coming in as a bench player. He's not going to bench Darwin Nunez and when Luis Diaz is back he won't be starting over him.
However, if he is happy to try and prove himself and challenge for a starting position then he would be an ideal squad player and he would definitely improve the quality of our attacking options off the bench.
If you want to get a closer look at Thuram then you can keep an eye on France's games in the upcoming World Cup as he has been selected by Didier Deschamps to travel to Qatar. He probably won't play much but he should get some game time.
