“Liverpool are among the best teams" - Man City midfielder praises Reds

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan believes that Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world right now.

Since 2019, the Reds have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title and League Cup.

In terms of this season, Liverpool are only one-point behind league leaders Manchester City. The Citizens will welcome the Reds to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

With eight league games to go, the match could be the title decider.

Because of Liverpool's current form and what they have achieved in the last few years, Gundogan is wary of the threat they possess heading into Sunday's clash.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the 31-year-old told the Mirror the following: “Liverpool are among the best teams in the world right now. "They have achieved incredible form (past and present). The league game will be tough. We want to win against them at home. It will be a match between two teams of the same level. “We must not make mistakes. They are a very effective team on the counter-attack. We are a team that loves to play with the ball. If we allow them to make a turnover, they can punish us. We have to be careful.”

We are not surprised to hear Gundogan praise Liverpool. The reality is, the Reds are the only English side to really challenge Manchester City in the past few years.

Yes, Chelsea did defeat the Citizens in the Champions League final last season. But, that was a one-off game.

Liverpool have consistently matched Manchester City in all departments since 2018.

We can't wait for the match on Sunday. It should be a very intense game of football. But, there is no denying that the fixture will be stressful for both sets of supporters.
